Representative Teams
Canterbury "rep" teams are formed through tryout and selection processes and represent Canterbury in national league competitions against other New Zealand regional teams, including Auckland, Dunedin, and Queenstown. Focus is on high level training, team work, and competition. Many of the players on these teams represent, or are training to represent, New Zealand in world competitions.
Jr. Devils (Under 15)
Players who are ages 14 and under as at December 31 of the playing year are eligible to try out for the Jr. Devils Under-15 team. The league is coed and non-checking.
In order to be eligible to play on the Jr. Devils U15 team, a player should also be registered to play in their age-appropriate recreational league. Highly skilled players may "play up" in the recreational U18 league or Jr. Devils U18 team with CIHA approval.

The U15 Jr. Devils practice and play during the winter season from May through September and typically compete against other regional teams during at least two long weekends of play.
Jr. Devils (Under 18)
Players who are ages 17 and under as at December 31 of the playing year are eligible to try out for the Jr. Devils Under-18 team. The league is coed and allows full body checking.
In order to be eligible to play on the Jr. Devils U18 team, a player should also be registered to play in their age-appropriate recreational league. Skilled U18 players may also be selected to play on the Inferno or Red Devils teams.

Inferno
The Canterbury Inferno represent the highest level of women's ice hockey in the Canterbury region.
Females who are ages 13 and over are eligible to try out for the Canterbury Inferno team. The Inferno play in the non-checking New Zealand Women's Ice Hockey League.

The New Zealand Women's Ice Hockey League has traditionally played in the summer. The 2021 season schedule is being devised, and will feature two rounds of weekend competitions against the other regions.
Red Devils
The Canterbury Red Devils represent the highest level of men's ice hockey in the Canterbury region.
Men who are ages 16 and over are eligible to try out for the Red Devils team, and females can tryout for goaltending positions. The Red Devils play in the full-contact New Zealand Ice Hockey League.
