Senior League
Regardless of your level of ice hockey knowledge, Canterbury Ice Hockey Association has an adult programme for you. If you are brand new to the game, visit our Learn To Play page. CIHA offers four grades of recreational senior league hockey, all of which are coed and non-checking. In addition to these leagues, we offer a Women's League, a Masters League, and training clinics throughout the year. If you are interested in joining a team, review the information below and contact us.
Beginners (Grade 4)
The coed adult Grade 4 league is ideal for players who have taken Adult Learn To Play sessions and are ready to take it to the next level and join a team. Emphasis in this social non-checking league is on fun, camaraderie, and learning the game.
Schedule and More
Refereed games are typically played once per week on a Thursday night in Summer season (October-March). Developmental opportunities may be available through Adult Learn to Play sessions. For more information contacts info@ciha.org.nz
Some Experience (Grade 3)
The coed non-checking Grade 3 league is for players who have at least one or two years of experience and have a solid understanding of hockey fundamentals and rules.
Schedule and More
There are no formal trainings and games are typically played once per week on a Monday night in both the Summer season (October-March) and Winter season (April-September).

Premier Division (Grade 1)
The coed non-checking adult Grade 1 league is the premier level of recreational play in Canterbury. The mix of players include many who have played on, or are currently playing on, Canterbury's Red Devils team or who have represented New Zealand in international competitions.
